Key points
  • The service covers criminal-record certificates issued in a foreign country.
  • It is handled non-face-to-face, without travel to the issuing country.
  • Apostille Korea arranges issuance, translation, notarization and certification together.
  • The certification route depends on the issuing country and the receiving authority.

When an overseas criminal-record certificate is required

A criminal-record or police clearance certificate is commonly requested for work visas, long-term residency, professional licensing and certain hiring processes. When the certificate has to be issued in another country, applicants often face the obstacle of requesting it from abroad and then having it authenticated for use elsewhere. Because the document originates in the issuing country, it is certified there: a (local) apostille if that country is a Hague Apostille Convention member, or (local) embassy legalization if it is not, usually with a certified translation attached.

How the non-face-to-face service works

Apostille Korea says the certificate can be requested, translated, notarized and certified through its online process, so applicants do not need to travel to the issuing country in person. The company supports issuance, translation, notarization and the matching certification together, helping applicants prepare a submission-ready document within their deadline. Because the exact requirement varies by the issuing country and by the institution receiving the document, applicants are advised to confirm the standard before they begin.
